The Anita Young Bursary Award for a mid-career visual artist has been made to Eugene Worrall. The award was selected at 142nd RUA Annual Exhibition at The Ulster Museum Belfast. A Dublin born painter and sculptor, Eugene works between Ireland and France. He is a graduate of IADT and has exhibited in various galleries throughout the country. Throughout his career he has had a daily practice of drawing amassing a visual diary of his life through sketchbooks. He either works from his home studio in Dublin or while on the move, around Europe.
Curator Sarah Searson selected the bursary award behalf of the Tyrone Guthrie Centre commented, “There's an individualistic tone and perspective to Eugene’s work that's really compelling. His two paintings in the RUA exhibition are witty wry glimpses of everyday life, Eugenes paintings are infused with a little magic, self-deprecating humour and nods to the traditions of the form. I hope Eugene will enjoy The Tyrone Guthrie Artist Studios." Huge thanks to the generosity of Anita Young and her family who through a bequest have made this award possible.
The 142 RUA Annual Exhibition continues to 1st January 2024.
