In Nov. 2008, thanks to current owners It Fryske Gea, Frisian artist Tjibbe Hooghiemstra had the opportunity to live and work for a few weeks in the houseboat of the late frisian writer Rink van der Velde. The boat in anchored in a petgat, a pool created by peat cutting, outside the village of De Veenhoop near Drachten.

Works by Hooghiemstra appear in many museum collections both in the Netherlands and abroad, including the Stedelijk Museum and the Rijksmusemum in Amsterdam.
